Damn! I was hoping to pick me up the newest one too. I was just waiting until I had some more disposable funds. Since I just bought a new house and have 2 mortgages now, money has been a little tight. I have some of the older fan sets and they are awesome. This totally sucks.

These sets were my favorite issued GPK related items since the OS releases. Hands down. Thanks to all that worked on them. We have really enjoyed them. I'm shocked Topps cares. I'm sure you've really dented their pocketbooks and their stock is down 15% due to a few fan sets. Give me a break.

To be fair you can't be sure that it didn't either. I know you would feel terrible if you were the reason that the Fan Sets got the kibosh but....you know in WWII they had a saying....loose lips sink ships.

Didn't say it was, and my first words stated that.
My point was simply that advertising copyright-infringing items on social media was probably not the wisest of ideas. Let's not beat around the bush here, these sets technically were illegal. They used copyrighted artwork that someone bootlegged and charged money for. The owner of said ip is going to take notice eventually.
Did nobody learn anything when Topps put an end to the custom cheap toys? They obviously don't like their products being bootlegged. Even though most here, including myself, find them to be a vile, greedy company, they still are a business and have to protect their ips.

It's just the attention it got in general that killed it...someone probably ratted it out and used the various instagram/FB/UG posts to prove it was a "big deal" and Topps should shut it down.
If word never left this forum, I don't think it would get shut down. But in current times, social media is pretty influential and if they start getting questions about a fanset on the "Official GPK" facebook page or something asking about "that set we saw on this website"....well, it's the end of days.
No one person to blame (except potentially "the rat"), it is what it is.

Somebody was selling fanset 6 on eBay last week or so ...and within couple days this happened . so I'm sure it's a little of all ....but branched outa ug ..means advertise and attention that but didn't need

Lets us remind Topps of how they felt when Cabage patch kids took them to court....
They fought back!!!.*..DID THEY stop making gpks?? Nope!! Just changed the logo and a few minor specs.... Hell, do the same!!.. kinda funny how a half ass company woyld get mad at a few artist drawing ans selling thier owe versions of the cards.. this just triggers more sales of the original gpks and such
.start using the original gpk logos from 1985!!! Topps has no say so in that!! Cabaga patch might, but once again you would be bringing them back to the spotlight triggering chatter and sales!! They shoyld thank you all,not threaten!
